Practitioner and professional development programme
The ‘practitioner and professional development programme’ (PPDP) is part of the postgraduate journey. It is free for officially enrolled postgraduate students at a university or higher education institution from honours level upwards. It is developed by Dr. Elmo Pienaar from Telling Outcomes (Pty) Ltd and is free on the condition that we serve as the official supervisor or cosupervisor of your research.
Honours degrees are rarely just research based, so in this we make an exception but research degrees become possible form masters level. Why choose a research degree? (See below)
The benefit of the programme is that it fits like a hand in a glove to your research project while contributing the necessary professional and practitioner skills to actually apply your research in your work in organisations, communities or which ever context you take concern with.
Should we however not have an existing relationship with your university or faculty or department there will be a fee involved that depends on whether you contract us for additional supervision or in case you qualify to do the programme entirely separate to your postgraduate degree.
There are a number of partners and aspects to the programme and we reserve the right to change the constituent parts.

Keep in mind that this is quite involved. On the other hand keep in mind that a doctorate degree allows for three years of study (sometimes more) and that there is ample time to complete each aspect of the PPDP.

Why choose a research degree?
Depending on the students’ institutional affiliation we might not have anything to do with your research. So why still promote it? There are a number of reasons.
We think that research inquiry and professional consulting belong together. There are too many un-grounded consultants who are not responsible knowledge practitioners. What research degrees are good for is establishing yourself as a expert of note. The problem usually is that some organisations feel, particularly at PhD level, you are too specialised in that you know a great deal about very focused subject matter. This is off set by our professional development programme. With us we have a ‘best of both offer.’ If you appoint us as an independent supervisor we liaise with your institutional supervisor and your organisation (if applicable such as wanting your organisation to sponsor you) so as to ensure that your research ads immediate value to the organisation.
